Ok. once again legal help. Is it appropriate to write a letter to the county prosecutor?

domestic ault charges being pressed by the state? someone called the cops cuz we were fighting/yelling/argueing. he was arrested and charges are being brought against him and i want to let the state know why i don't want charges brought. One friend said to write a letter to the judge, the county prosecutor said i can write him a letter and he will enter it into the file and look it over. please don't lecture me i'm a big girl and am in couselling and he is willing to try couselling after no contact is dropped. please just keep answers to the question - i've heard enough ffom everyone around me already.
